Steve Brannan joins as advisor

We’re thrilled to welcome Stephen (Steve) Brannan, MD, former Chief Medical Officer of Karuna Therapeutics, as an advisor to Sensorium Therapeutics!

Few people have done more to advance innovative treatments for psychiatric disorders than Steve. A psychiatrist by training, Steve has dedicated his career to improving the lives of people living with mental illness—from caring for patients with mood and anxiety disorders to helping bring groundbreaking new medicines through clinical development.

Most recently, as CMO of Karuna Therapeutics, Steve played a pivotal role in advancing KarXT (now Cobenfy), which introduced the first new mechanism of action for treating schizophrenia in decades. His contributions also span the development of several other important CNS therapies.

Above all, Steve brings a deep commitment to patients and a belief that meaningful advances in psychiatry are both possible and urgently needed.

Steve shared his perspective on joining Sensorium:
“Having spent my career caring for patients and developing new treatments for psychiatric disorders, I know how urgently we need medicines that work differently and better. What excites me about Sensorium is the emerging translational evidence we’re seeing—from preclinical models to early clinical signals—that suggests its approach could deliver something genuinely meaningful for patients. The prospect of a rapid-acting anxiolytic with a differentiated tolerability profile is particularly compelling, and I’m excited to help the team explore that potential.”

Steve joins us at an exciting moment as we build on encouraging Phase 1a findings for SNTX-2643, our investigational treatment for anxiety disorders, and continue advancing our broader neuroscience pipeline.

Welcome, Steve! We’re grateful to have your expertise, perspective, and passion for patients helping guide what comes next.
